Use Cfl lights bulbs And it will take up 10% less energy.
And use Pink batts to cover air from coming into your household

Manaiakalani film festival

In Term 2 we were learning a lot about movie magic, and how movies can influence our world. We created many movies. We started by brainstorming key messages we could include in our movies.

We also made a movie that explains how to plant kumara. It was really fun to do. We created this movie to inspire people to learn how to grow their own kumara.

Our movie for The Manaiakalani Film Festival is called 'School Is Cool'. We made it to share all of the cool learning and fun that we have at school.

Our movie was also shown at the Tamaki Primary Academy Awards. We created a PMI about Movie Magic and shared what we liked, what was challenging and interesting.

My Kai garden is about making the world a better place. This is by planting fruit and vegetable to maintain our body energy which keeps us going.I have also learnt that plants give us oxygen cause if there were no plants we wouldn’t be here right now.Did you know that it is also a great thing cause it helps the community . I can be sustainable by picking up rubbish to contributing to the community to keep it clean and green.

Room 7's Movie Magic Trailer

PMIS MOVIE MAGIC EVALUATION

PMIS -MOVIE MAGIC
Positives

What did you like about this term’s unit?
  • Using a camera.
  • Having the opportunity to edit a movie. Some of us are now confident to edit a movie and are now going to be helping our teacher edit T.P.S News.

  • Working as a group to plan our movies.
  • This unit helped us build stronger relationships with each other especially when we were working as a group to produce and edit our movies.
  • Speeches! - doing and preparing a speech helped developed our presenting skills.
  • We have become confident in sharing our ideas without being shy.
  • Learning about movie making equipment like the tripod, imove programme, flip cam etc.
  • Enjoyed learning about the movie making process - brainstorming, planning, script writing, storyboarding, filming, editing, presenting.
  • Learning about the different effective camera shots.
  • MAKING A MOVIE!
  • Everyone in our class was in a movie.
  • Finishing the movie off with a whole school Academy awards. This made us feel very proud of our hardwork! We felt like REAL professional film makers.
  • Our whanau and friends being proud of us - they really appreciated our movies.
  • We have definitely expanded our knowledge about movie making and have developed good movie making skills that we want to share with others. We look forward to continuing our Movie Magic journey and learning more fun ways to extend our movie making skills.

Minus
What challenges did you have with this unit?
  • Waiting for our turn to film because there was only one flip-cam and a tripod.
  • We had some groups using the same filming location so we had to wait for them to finish filming and sometimes it ment we couldn't film because they were taking too long. For example the staff room, corridor, reading room etc.
  • We couldn’t film sometimes as some students were away and the weather was not too good as well.
  • Memorising our lines for our scripts.
Interesting
What interested you about this unit?
  • The editing process.
  • Adding sound effects and music to our movies.
  • Learning how professional film makers make movies and trying to develop their skills throughout the process of our film making experience.
  • Learning the movie elements helped us to make our movies interesting to watch!
  •
  • Solution
How could we improve on this unit next time.
  •   More flip-cams and tripods.
  • Have the Imovie programme on our netbooks so that we could edit our movies instead of waiting for a group to finish.

Speech

Why people should play rugby
Hi my name is Pate i going to tell you about rugby . People should play rugby because you can build up muscle like Jonah lomu a famous rugby player thats why i think people should build muscles instead of  going to Jenny Graig.Thats why i think people should play rugby.

my first Opinion is that it is really fun to play and it’s great to play because it builds up musle and also can help as by getting fit in rugby.

My second opinion is that rugby is a cooperating sport and can help sharing the ball so everyone  could be happy. it also builds relationships to each other when they sharing the or letting  everyone have go in attacking or defending.

My third opinion is that parents are not letting kids play rugby just because they don't like their child getting hurt all the time that i think people should play rugby because it is for everyone like for the girls how they could played rugby for New Zealand and won as they made it to finals against England in the final and they won and also the boy that play for the All blacks won the world cup
and made it to finals against france and thats why people should  play rugby remember because cooperates and also builds relationships and it's good for everyone to play and everyone. Even though if you are a boy or a girl everyone can play!!!!!!.

The Powerful Mountain

WALT-write a narrative story based on our artwork.

                                                     The Powerful  MOUNTAIN !
ORIENTATION
In the ancient times there lived an young old boy named Jack who was an orphan. He lived with other kids. One day jack came back from a hard day of work and said to his friend  Kini ‘’hey hurry and make me some food said  jack .Kini replied “why don't you legs work from a busy day “alright i'll go make some when suddenly jack turned on the t.v channel 8 news breaking news there is  an volcanic eruption in new Zealand  Hamilton so everyone has being warned. My name is Garry wild getting all up in your news.so jack said to his friend Kini “hey Kini why don't  go we up the mountain to see if its real” Kini replied with full of anger and  clutch his feast and said “NO! “ we can’t go up there we will be dead by now and we we would be turned into stone”  “come said jack if it real then we will go back down and rush to airport and fly somewere else then we would fly to Auckland .

PROBLEM
So they move to a place in Auckland right next to Hamilton where there was heaps of volcanoes but jack was lucky because they are all asleep. but one day from that volcano in Hamilton erupted but when that volcano erupted that caused to wake up all the volcanoes in Auckland to wake up then they rushed to Auckland airport the lava was almost about to swapping everything in it path.then suddenly …. Jack had a plan as an imagine light bold pop up on his head.

SOLUTION Then kini was running but he missed the last plane and he died in the age of 15 jack survived but kini past away they had a furunral jack was sad because it was a speical day for him and it was really sad.

ENDING
Jack had learnt not to go up a mountain when its a eruption or tricking other people to die.
